Default Whatas up with all these new RJ orders?

Skywest, Republic, Eagle, Delta... bunch of big RJ orders settled, in progress, or rumored. I thought the day of the RJ was gone.

No, that was scare tactic strategy talk for scope release and regional pilot contract concessions.

50 seaters are done...all the orders are for 70+.

RJ's are disposable and will be wearing out in droves over the next ten years. Since fuel cost is such an issue with RJ's, it makes sense to buy new technology with lower fuel burn, if you can afford to.

If you can't afford new airplanes, you'll either have to fly new airplanes which mainline provides or, more likely, go out of business.

The seat count is going up, but that regional pay-scale isn't.

I am aware of no firm, in progress or rumored "large RJ" order for the company currently, but soon to be formally "American Eagle." Maybe for the "brand" but that will all be for republic and compass.

76 seat RJ. 52% more revenue, about 15% more cost. Easy math.
