Skywest Question
Quick question about Skywest and their hiring practices. Do they tell you which airframe you are being hired into at the interview or do you have to go to class in order to be assigned. I would like to go to the jet if possible, as I am flying the Encore (CE-560) now and do not want to go turboprop again. Not that there is anything wrong with turboprops, I have many hours in the King Air's, but I would prefer to stay jet now.

And I'd definately take whatever they give you. Big advantage to the Brasilia=upgrade in less than a year right now. I'm seat locked in the RJ for a year, but there's no way I'm going EMB capt because the sucker's a lot harder to fly than the jet.

The Bro isn't that much harder to fly than a jet, you just have to figure out how to use rudders again to make it comfortable for the knuckleheads in back.
I heard that they want 1700 tt to put people on the jet. When they offer you the job they will NOT allow you to change once they have made the decision to stick you on whatever plane they decide. I came from 121 and half my time was in a EMB145, I live in St. Louis and ORD would be an easier commute, and they wouldn't even return a check airman's phone call who was curious as to why I didn't get the jet when they are complaining about people not being qualified enough. Anyways, they are short on the jet and apparently not so much on the Bro.
Also, there are people who put their bid in for the jet and have been awarded the jet after around 8 months, which means the 1 year seat lock can be less.

Thanks for the info. Koolaid, you say that they need people in the jet. Where are the junior domiciles for the RJ. I have 1500 total time but 200 of that is jet, and a bit more of Turbo prop PIC...would that give me a shot for the jet. I will also have my ATP within a month or so. I am debating about moving back out west to be closer to my daughter, so Skywest is an option. I saw that there is a group interview in Phoenix with a date to be determined. I am thinking about going.
Thanks again for the info.
