Your arugments are ridiculous nobody wants a penthouse suite in training (although it be nice) people are only asking for a "respectable" wage for the work they do. I guess that's asking for the world in your eyes though and they should just be grateful that they lucked out in getting to fly this magical RJ with it's powerful turbine engines, break through technological navigation equipment, and magical autopilots. GMAB either you epically trolled me or well you just need some misery company about starting over at a new airline.

If you want a respectable wage, you either rough out your first year at the regionals, because like you, the guys at FedEx were once year one F.O.'s before they made $200 an hour, or you say to yourself, "wow, regional airline pilots get paid less than the fry cook at the fast food restaurant. Why the hell would I sign up for that?" and do something else with your life.

There is no in between. I don't make the payscale, I don't make the rules, I just accept the situation for what it is and deal with it.

I don't need misery company for starting over at a new airline either. If I had my way I would be overseas getting paid what I'm worth, but a small piece of metal wrapped around a finger on my left hand is stopping that venture.

I'm not management, but I have run my own business successfully since I was 21 years old, so I see both sides.
I'm just trying to explain why 1st year pay is low. I don't have any influence in it and I don't necessarily agree with it, but it is what it is.

It wasn't long ago that Continental mainline paid $30 an hour first year for less than 70 hours guarantee and no health insurance.

I think first year pay will have to increase with the new ATP requirements, but it won't be because "its not fair right now," it will be because the laws of supply and demand will dictate a higher salary.

So it's ok to go overseas to get paid what you are worth, but it's not ok to be paid what you are worth here? Just wanted to clear up the hypocrisy.

This argument is dumb can we move back to how beautiful the new paint scheme is like the thread was originally started?

If it's so successful, why are you considering coming back to someplace first year pay having to commute, reserve and all those other wonderful things you listed off?

Because like everyone else, I love flying and I think its a good job. I also enjoy the flight privialges and I think there is alot of career potential right now. If we were around the post 9/11 era right now, I wouldn't dream of coming back into the indusrty.
