Eagle life

RJ you're a joke. You just don't have a clue do you. I'm not going to get into a petty argument with you but you have no idea about anything especially who I am.

No. RJ is fantastic. Why you ask? Because I know, no matter what I do in life, there will always be someone else who is more miserable, unhappy and less liked than me!

According to him, identities are his specialty. ;)

Then again, according to him, someone named "Joey" was the king of L-Eagle doom & gloom and now look where we are.......

Let what go ?

You seem to have no sense of humor. I realize its a very stressful time at Eagle, but perhaps it's time to bid for a vacation ?

Sad, but true. It's always been that way. As for L-Eagle, too many are panicking at the present uncertainty. Yes, the fleet plan that was "just around the corner" was a fable sold to you by your corrupt union leadership, but your present carrier won't likely disappear soon. Tough to act on a new fleet while still in Chapter 11 (AA placed their orders/options prior). I think once BK is exited, this carrier will be slated for new airframes, most likely the CRJ-700/900. As your EMB's melt over the next several years, they'll be replaced by airframes for both your carrier and others, that will result in a smaller carrier, but one that is still integral to AA's feeder system.

Your biggest threat is your current union leadership. Soon, you'll likely see them making alterations to your agreement with the company and that will include a more "company friendly" PBS than anticipated. Additionally, partly due to that and your pay indexing, the days of the $120,000/year RJ captain are over. PBS will ensure that if you choose to knock yourself silly flying the maximum 1000 hours/year, you'll get 1000 hours of pay at the new indexed rates. A senior captain doing that at perhaps 12 days off/month or less will be about $85,000/year plus per diem.

The above isn't doom & gloom, just economic reality for the regional industry and with staggered contracts, they'll forever keep the sword of Damocles over regional pilots head to be the cheapest bidder. No one however is likely to be unemployed anytime soon though.

and mainline will then be forced to pass mainline domestic flying to the new cheaper regional feed because that is what all mainlines have and will do and done. viscious circle, to bad alpa causes all of the damage. the new aa will have to give up on scope again if they want to keep the payrates they have now in the mou.

450knotOffice 04-27-2013 10:24 AM

Nah. I don't see that happening. The Legacy mainline guys all seem to have drawn the line in the sand. IMO, continued scope relaxation is dead.

eaglefly 04-27-2013 12:52 PM

Yes and no. Only so many routes/frequencies will be suitable for <76-seaters and regionals will be hamstrung in the future of not having enough F/O's in the pipeline. The ability to get pilots and higher yield economics of > 76-seats will bolster mainline over regional in the future. That being said 64 and 76-seat RJ's will still have a significant role and the AA network will have hundreds of them, again spread out among 3-4 carriers.

Just my .02.
