You said multiple vans. That's one. I myself have never heard anyone refer to it in that manner.

I keep on hearing how SKW has "economy of scale", I was under the impression that to have economy of scale the carrier must already operate the type of aircraft that is being used. SKW does not operate ANY Embraer jets! The EMB-175 is a COMPLETELY different airframe than they operate. To start operations using the EMB-175 they would have to have an approved training program for pilots and FAs. In addition they would have to catelog parts and supplies for said airframe. Not only that, but their MTX personnel and Dispatchers would have to complete training for a new aircraft type. No matter how you look at it, it's almost always more expensive to carry another airframe type. The EMB-170/175 share very little if anything with the CRJs. Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Many sources say this process is underway and has been for a while.

I'm going to agree with the trolling theory. Going on my third year, and I've never heard such a stupid comment like SkyWest "Mainline".

I've had some XJT crews snub my hellos when walking around IAH, but I'm not going to assume all XJT crews are tools. Quite the contrary actually, most are very enjoyable to talk with and are in the same boat as me - just trying to do my job and move on. Those that get all wrapped up in regional airline "eliteness" are beyond pathetic... You are drifting towards that with your comments here IMO.

Well said. I've never heard any Skywest guy refer to themselves as mainline to us XJT guys. Do your job, go home and try and get on at a major.

I've been known to say "SkyWest Mainline" to differentiate the "jet princesses" from the "prop trash", but it's always in jest. Anyone who would use the term condescendingly toward an XJT guy must be a tool.

Guys who don't know I'm a pilot tell me all the time, "I fly for United" or "I fly for Delta." They think I don't know the difference since I non rev in street clothes.

The simple fact that that statement is true is sad but at the same time pathetic.
