At Horizon, I'd bet upwards of 80% of the captains are lifers.

At skywest theres alot of lifers too especially in the old west domiciles. There are also a lot of guys with no degree. Combine that with the guys who just are fence sitting because of the loss of pay/schedule/commute etc, you have id say a majority of the CAs. The minority are willing to get hired at any major they can as soon as possbile..id say thats maybe 1/3rd or less.

Rapists, DUIs, failed checkrides, FAA violations/letters, you name it.

So, as soon as you get that regional Capt raise consider throwing all the additional scratch towards:

- paying down credit cards
- paying down school loans
- paying down car loans OR saving for a better vehicle and not putting zero down
- paying down your current mortgage, HELOC, etc, instead of getting a bigger one OR staying in your current digs and saving for a large down payment.
- etc, etc.

Or, stay where you're at so the majors just hires regional FOs. Won't bother me a bit.

Great advice! I don't mind one bit if people enjoy where they are at. If the have the QOL they want and can still fly good for them. As for me, I am getting back into for the long term goals and QOL/pay what ever that might be.

haha this made me laugh.

Seriously though, at the ASA side of XJT i'd safely bet that 20-30% easily are lifers. Add to the fact that the 10 year stagnation not only priced people out of the "1st year" major pay (growing family, college, etc..) but also lots of people may have marks on their records that will prevent them from even applying to move on.

The "quality" operators will see higher lifers (XJT/ASA, Horizon, PSA) and scum bag operators (Geeeeee7...) will ALL bail asap.

The thread asks "staying put". You have the self-admitted lifers and the CA's that have no apps out (passive lifers?).

Aero1900, just for the record, I think your analysis of things is cool, thanks for the efforts. Your other thread is good also.
