Typically wholly owned puts the better pilots in the bigger planes. Lets look at Eagle for example top guys get the CRJ's followed by EMB's when they had the ATR's the lowest scoring guys in class got those. It doesn't really take any skills to fly the props whereas the jets you gotta be the second coming of Bob Hoover or Chuck Yeager to fly the CRJ'S.

The best regional pilots fly the 900 out of SLC, no joke I had one SLC captain tell me I need to fly out of SLC so I could learn from the best. He honestly thought the Delta side of the company was the better half

It really depends how much excellence is in your p!ss test. If you p!ss excellence, you get SLC Delta flying.

Hello everyone. I was just curious as to how the regional airlines work as far as what airline you fly for. For example SkyWest flies for United Express and Delta Connection (plus some others probably). What determines if you fly for UAX or DC or any of the other airlines?
In LA the AA flying tends to go junior so the more senior people will bid the Delta and United flying. Delta trips tend to go more senior in any domicile because it's mostly 700 and 900 flying which pays more.
There's nothing limiting what carrier a person can fly for, but based on seniority and domicile you can make a pretty good guess about what carrier a person will mostly be flying for.

More like the most senior pilots fly the 900 out of SLC. I'm not going to sit perma-reserve in SLC just so I get a chance to fly with the "best."

All this previous stuff is bad advice. Basically if you wear a baseball cap to your interview, you will be put on the Delta side since you will not see a Delta pilot without his hat. They see you are already used to wearing one.
