Default Regional Airlines with agreements

Hello everyone. I was just curious as to how the regional airlines work as far as what airline you fly for. For example SkyWest flies for United Express and Delta Connection (plus some others probably). What determines if you fly for UAX or DC or any of the other airlines?

Generally speaking, during initial training pilots are ranked according to skill. The best pilots fly for the delta feed, then united, on down to the bottom, usairways.

This basically sums it up. You better be on your A game if you plan on working for a DCI carrier.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they just mix and match on the schedules. You could start of the trip flying for one mainline partner and have another carrier's flying in between. Usually the base that is assigned will dictate which mainline flights you will be doing. Do not be surprised to see schedules with a bit of both. Hope this helps.

And if you really are the cream of the crop, you get to fly only the airplanes with the Skywest logo on it. I'm sorry I just couldn't resist.

The top guns at SKW are based in SLC and fly Delta Connect. The rest are spread around the system.

Generally, it seems like your base has the most influence on what airline you'll fly for. SLC would tend to have more DAL flying while DEN would have more UAL. I've seen their pairings and you'll only fly United or only fly Delta during a pairing it seems.

How does it work at a wholly owned like psa or eagle? Do they assume the whole class is top gun?
