Blind N.Y. man allegedly kicked off plane over guide dog; passengers exit in solidarity - CBS News
Piedmont (PI) #4183 ? 13-Nov-2013 ? KPHL - KISP ? FlightAware
After a long delay in Philly, and while taxiing out for departure, flight crew decided to kick off a legally blind man because his dog wouldn't stay under hsi seat.
Aircraft returned to gate and where met by security - when the 35 other passengers realized what was happening - all of them - walked off the flight in disgust.
All 36 passengers and dog - boarded a bus together and returned to Long Island.
I wouldn't want to be part of the PR group at US Airways this morning!!

FA: "sir, can you please move your dog"
Blind guy: "I'm sorry, I didn't see him there"
And this is why you don't f- with New Yorkers.
I feel bad for the guy, I know policy is policy, but use some common sense. Apparently there was a seat or two open and the FA never asked if someone was willing to move to allow the dog more room to lay down. Instead he was faced with the wrath of the galley wench. I hope that dog left a steamy load right on top of the seat.

I wouldn't want to be one of the gate agents and/or supervisors that had to handle the passengers when they got off the plane. Good for those passengers.
Did they go ahead and depart empty or cancel the flight?

Just so I understand. The purpose of stowing the dog under the seat to the side of him is so that the isle is clear to evacuate should the need arise. However, if the dog is under the seat for the evacuation...the blind man cannot evacuate. Thats like having a one legged man stowe his fake leg under the seat. I see the logic now.

Wow, pretty quick to condemn the flight crew aren't we? First of all do you really think CBS is telling the whole story? This passenger has a history of unruly behavior and the FA was in tears. Given what transpired I don't fault the crew, and good for the CA and FO for supporting their FA. Could it have been avoided? Perhaps. And that doesn't really matter at this point. What does matter? Unnecessarily throwing the crew under the bus for taking control of a situation that was going downhill. You all talk about compassion but apparently the same doesn't apply to your fellow crewmembers.

Passengers side with blind man against flight attendant | Travel - WTAE Home
sounds like this guy wasn't exactly innocent (verbally abusive)
i'd add the agent dropped the ball initially for booking him in one of the seats that doesn't have a place for the dog to go
