I beg to differ... I would consider myself technically inclined. I have been building my own PCs and tweaking Windows for years. I made the switch from Android to iOS a year ago and I haven't looked back. iOS apps 99 times out of 100 are more polished and work better than their Android counterparts, in my experience. My iPhone and my iPad can share an internet connection in a few simple clicks, and when I update one the other is seamlessly updated as well. What few bugs exist on iOS apps are also worked out more quickly than those on Android. I still use a Windows PC and see no reason to switch. But when it comes to mobile devices, Apple and their simple user environment/interface are hard to beat. Do Apple products have their drawbacks? Of course. They cost a little more, the memory isn't externally expandable, and they are not infinitely tweakable. But my iPhone and iPad get the job done well the first time consistently with little to no headaches, which is more than I can say for my previous Android devices. Not everyone needs the ultra new coolest root or jailbreak which allows unlimited tweaking on their device. Some people just need their devices to work consistently

 

While I agree with you that apps are a little more polished on iOS, especially for tablets, I disagree with you about functionality and consistency. By its very nature Android has been really buggy and unstable from the very beginning. Google's philosophy with Android was to make it expand and gain market share as fast as possible. As a result Android has been growing up at an amazing pace. I have had an Android phone since the very beginning of Android 1.0 and have seen the progress first hand. Right now Android 4.4 KitKat is extremely polished and extremely functional. Using it on my Nexus 7 tablet is amazing. Everything just plain works, it is fast, Google Now beats Siri hands down, and you have a million features that I won't even begin to list here.

My whole point is that iOS devices like you said are polished and consistent and simple. They are great at what they do. I really believe they are the best choice for less technically inclined people. When it is time for my grandparents and parents to get a new phone I try to steer them to iPhone because I agree with you. However if one truly wants full customization and control of their device Android is the way to go. You haven't been using Android for a year. The difference between Gingerbread and JellyBean is vast and especially KitKat. Android continues to evolve and in my opinion is starting to reach the level of polish of iOS. In the next 6 months to a year I expect to see an equal level of polish as iOS, perhaps it will surpass it, all the while doing things that iOS can't and will never do.

Now, back to the thread, iOS7 doesn't play well with the FLiCA App. I believe it's because they aren't interested in working on their mobile app. They truly need to get it fixed and also make an Android app.

 

I use Chrome on Android and the website works just fine.

 

Found this old thread...still wondering if there any updates on options for android users. I know there are some third-party apps out there but they all seem fake. Any suggestions or experience with other apps for FLICA with android?

Puffin browser also works well for full Flica access. Seems to load the site better than Chrome.
