It was going to shrink but new blood would have been available meaning an upgrade would have eventually happened. As it stands now no one is applying, our contract is bad and we have no reasonable expectation of an upgrade for new hires. This is something the no voters never seemed to understand.
Look at the industry, none can hire the amounts of pilots they need..

Ahh, allow me to provide the translation for those having difficulty reading between the lines.
Congrats for doing the right thing, Eagle MEC. Together with the XJT vote and all the press lately about how low pay has created the pilot shortage, I think you just did something huge and potentially transformative for our profession. Thank you.

These mental midgets believed all of AAGs threats despite a historic shortage of pilots at the regional carriers, and were willing to vote yes to any old piece of crap on the idea that 1500 hour pilots were magically going to materialize out of thin air to work for a concessionary contract and get Bzzt his upgrade.
Accordingly, the Eagle MEC decided that as they were elected as representatives, they ought to "represent" rather than pass the buck onto the voters, in case the lack of mental fortitude demonstrated by voters like Bzzt was more widespread than they thought. They went beyond a simple "no" to tell management "f*ck no, are you f*cking stupid or do you not read the f*cking newspapers!?" through their vote, and passed the job of translating this message onto me, your Communications Committee Chairman.
Therefore, I am calling AAG out on their threats. You say you're going to liquidate? OK jokers, we'll take you on your word. Go ahead - liquidate if you can! Meanwhile, we'll see if you can even keep up with our rate of attrition. Chances are, within a year you'll be coming to us to look at upping first year pay because you can't even attract enough pilots to staff the flying we still have. Suck it, a$$hat$!

Sure thats possible. In fact, I believe that is what the management at Eagle has said it will have to do if the pilots did not accept the concessionary contract. However, that is a vicious cycle and the cause of the whipsaw. If you have not looked at that website I'd encourage you to do so. It's called stopthewhipsaw.com. It will give you some insight as to exactly why the Eagle Pilot Group's rejection of a concessionary contract is good for all of us.
Hope that helps

Nothing I have posted here has ever been intended for pity. More of a warning to those perspective applicants to this awful career of just how miserable it can make your life. I have never been so miserable as the period of my life I've spent in the regional airlines, take that for what it's worth.
