Mattemo,
I'm not trolling you. You need to chill my brother. Take a shot of roids and think about how amazing it will be to fly that Mesa space shuttle. Exciting isn't it? I can put you in touch with a guy who will make all your dreams come true. Remember: "Seniority is everything, get there first with ATP" |

Sweet.....Baby.....Jesus. I am so glad I am not running the Regional Rodeo. I paid back a 4 year degree, a tango uniform school that stole 50K from me (Airline Training Academy) my ratings from Solo after that (an additional 35K). All in all, lets call it 130K. Never whined, blamed, sought pitty or nothin'. I squatted in friend's Hangar's with a cot and camp stove for 3 years. Worked 2 full time jobs. Never missed a payment to Key. ATA folded 12 years ago. I habe since paid back my loans, saved 6 months income, and am putting a 35 percent downpayment on my first home.
Sigh, RadialGal |

Remember: "Seniority is everything, get there first with ATP" :) If I was willing to fly for Mesa I would have gone to Great Mistakes back in 2007 when an instructor I worked with tried to get me to go with him. Guess why I told him I couldn't go? "I can't go to Great Mistakes because their training is unpaid and I would end up defaulting on my student loan and I can't do that." "Take a shot of roids"? Wait a minute! You take Hemorrhoid shots?! ;) |

Sigh, RadialGal Getting words/emotions put in my mouth gets old. Nobody was asking for pity. I was asking if regionals check your credit rating. |

Since I do not think that my loan going to collection is not my fault, I found your reply surprising.
So I re-read my post... And I still don't see the attitude you saw in my post. You must have a problem with my "attitude" of not being happy about the fact that the $24,000 of payments I made over three years reduced my loan amount by only $3,000? Also, I always answered Key Bank's calls to touch base with them, tell them I was doing everything I could to pay- and that I would pay- and to ask them not to send it to collection. They always told me that there was no indication that it was going to collection. Seems like a good illustration of my bad and irresponsible attitude, no? I do hope that you had fun posting. Try to find a way to include the minimum payment they will accept (try income based, graduated payment, deferral, forbearance) in your budget or it will never go away. Bad credit will haunt you for 10 years and make everything else you finance more expensive. |

I'm studying for my ATP written right now so that I can apply to a regional and be slightly less poor than I am as a CFI- or at least give myself the illusion "of moving on up" while I continue to live below the poverty line.
My $70,000 loan that I took out for flight training 8 years ago went to collection 3 years ago after they bumped my payments up from the "interest only" amount of $500 up to $700... and I'm wondering if a regional will check my credit rating and not hire me for this reason. And just for the entertainment value... while I was paying the interest only payments for a year and then paying full payments for a year or less... I paid $24,600 out of my CFI pay (instead of paying rent to my mom) and the amount owned on the loan was reduced by $3,000. Fortunately it is a private loan- not government! For the record, in the bailout of 2008 Key Bank got 14 million dollars of our tax money... |
They don't check your credit. End of story.
By the way..."Capitalism without bankruptcy is like Christianity without the bible". Stick it to the man and file Ch 7. Bankruptcy is not just for the rich! |
