You get Colgan non-rev and depending on what system you are in you get flights on all of that airlines flights, including regional opps. If you are based somewhere that serves both US Airways and United you will get flight benefits on both.

We are in CASS as well.

Default HPN base

I will be applying for some airlines in the next week. Colgan was one of the options because of the proximity of of HPN to my house (35 min) ALB is also an option being that is only 1 1/5 hours north. Can any one tell me how likely it will be to get either of those bases? Also any constructive knowledge about the company and hiring process would be valuables.

ALB is a lock if you choose it. It's a MX base and not very high on many FO's lists. I dont think it's been bad at all, good people here to fly with between the CA's, FO's and FA's. You get a lot of different types of flights, good overall experience prior to holding a line IMO. Also have crashpad info if you need it.

I am just making the best with the cards I have been given in ALB. Believe me, when a spot opens up in PVD I'll have a good QOL considering thats where I live with my wife and daughter. Thats the main reason I came to CJC. If the base closes (PVD) or takes a lightyear for me to get it I'll just stay for my contract term and go elswhere. I will NOT stay in ALB for more than 6 months thats for sure. If I lived near ALB I wouldn't mind keeping it as a base but the 5 on 2 off sucks while on reserve. I'm home for 36 hours once a week! I call Mikey once every couple of weeks just to see whats up and he tells me I am next in line so we'll see..........

While putting together my resume I saw that Colgan requires you to have multi currency, is that a big deal or not. If it is I will get current no problem but I would like to save my self a few hundred bucks.

Multi Currency isn't a big deal if you fly the sim just fine. It's either a Beech 1900C or King Air sim depending on where you interview. Do you meet the total time requirement?

Colgan is a CASS carrier. So jump seating is not usualy a problem. If your in the NE you will be in the US Air system and there travel bennifits to me see pd good. They are closing the ROC base (next week) and it does seem like we are heading toward the hub system although we aint there yet. BUF is still open for right now but I have heard rummors about that one. Folks seem to have a beef with colgan for alot of things. Most everyone has the same want though, QOL. If you can/do live at your base, well your home every night so its great. However, if not, the normal 12 days off a month does not leave much home time. Good luck!

For the pilots that need to be around home for family reasons how would a 1 1/2 hour drive to work, both ways so 3 ttl, be compaired to commuting say to LGA or BOS when there are about 7-8 flts a day from here to LGA and 4 a day to BOS? Being based in LGA or BOS would be away from home so how are the trips from those cities are there overnight trips or are they crashpad nights? Trying to see if I would be paying for a place to stay or Colgan.........I guess what I would like to know is it better to be in your own car going to work or flying to work and finding a place to stay if needs be.........thanks for any help!!!!
