Default buildin time!!

As a Canadian looking at doing my training at the states, what is the best way, maybe even fastest way to build hours to land jobs at per say SWA, CX, FED EX, UPS? Are the regionals the way to go to build hours? and if they are what are some good ones to look for

Welcome.

1000 multi turbine PIC is just the price of admission for those very popular airlines right now...and is no guarantee whatsoever you'd get an interview.

Buy yourself a Citation and fly it around with friends and relatives till you get your 1000 PIC. Be ready to suck it up, those insurance premiums are gonna HURT!

What he said.

Jet time is becoming superior to turboprop time. A regional is the best way to do this at the moment. Bid for schedules with lots of hours.

Skywest is currently expanding and hiring and has relatively quick upgrades for those who are qualified. But do your research. Things can change. I am still on the right seat of an RJ because I probably did not do enough research at various parts of my career and now have almost 4000 hours M/E turbine. And not a single M/E turbine hour of PIC.

Pick your airline carefully.

Yes, I am with ZW. But a big part of that 4000 SIC came at another carrier where I used to work overseas. I got furloughed more or less permanently after about the same amount of time it takes to upgrade at most regionals. So I got to start all over at the bottom at a regional. Pushing 6 years now on the right seat.
