Default Solo time??

I have 65 hours, with 10 PIC XC. I am trying to build up some PIC XC time so that I can get an instrument and commercial. I decided I would take each of my good friends for a trip somewhere (That way a few of them would help split the cost).

But today, someone told me that airlines look for SOLO time. I thought they were full of it. So my question is does solo time matter (no one else in the airplane), or is it the PIC time that matters???

On a side note, if I am training for my commercial license, and my instructor is onboard, can be both log PIC time (since I am rated in the airplane). How about for BFR's, flying club checkouts, etc... If you are rated in that category/class, and you are paying for the airplane, can you, or your instructor, or both of you log PIC time.
Thanks.

ur friend is clueless. It's PIC time that's important as long as you are the sole manipulator of the controls, you can take all the people you want along for the ride. Trust me no one that I know of cares about solo time after you get your private, it's all PIC time you are working towards.

Solo time only applies to student pilots. Now that you have a certificate, you log PIC time. Go fly.

Solo time is solo time, is stands for "I don't have a license yet!"

Does your solo time as a student convert to and count towards your PIC total after you get your PPL?

If you are "solo", nobody else to talk to in the plane for advice, then you are the PIC my friend, as well as the soloist!

I'd also like to know this. As a student making a solo flight do you log SOLO and PIC?

Absolutely, all solo time is PIC by definition, regardless of the rating held (or lack of rating).

You and your Instructor can both log PIC if you are licensed for that aircraft. So when you are working toward another rating with your instructor you can log both PIC and you will have to log Dual recieved also.

Sounds good. One more example. If I have only flown a 152, and I go to fly a 172, but I have a private pilots license (ASEL), can I log PIC while I am transitioning into the 172??
How about from a normal ASEL airplane to a complex airplane. Can I log training as PIC as well?
