Classic acid/mescaline talking, nicely done! Choices, there are good and bad.

...most regional pilots who are saddled with huge student loans had no choice but to sign for the loan.
No choice but to sign up for a loan huh?

This would allow a good standard of living for regional pilots and end the whipsaw, as the Government would decide what regional flies for what major and what routes the regional flies.

And to take it a step further, the Government should subsidize low interest loans and provide grants for gifted accredited aviation university students, to enable them to get the 1500hrs as economically as possible. The Government should also forgive existing flight school and aviation university loans for regional pilots to give them a head start and not be burdened with debt.

The above would go a long way to making the regional a place where pilots can actually have a decent career.
Quite possibly the worst (I'll refrain from using dumbest) idea I have read, to date, on how to fix the 'problem.' There is so much wrong with your idea that I would need two keyboards and higher bandwidth to get to it all. How about, just no...

As for the debt forgiveness, most regional pilots who are saddled with huge student loans had no choice but to sign for the loan. It was their only way of reaching their dream of becoming an airline pilot. Are you willing to crush so many pilot's dreams? They are currently living with the burden of making a student loan payment that takes up the majority of their pay. They need help and it's insensitive to ignore their plight as they are constantly living in fear of defaulting on their loans and having that negative stigma haunt them when they try for a position with the major airlines.
Don't even go there with the race argument. I am not a racist in the least and I want to work next to the best and most qualified individuals out there regardless of race of ethnicity.

We're not crushing dreams here, and as others have said it is not the government's problem right now. It sucks that it is outrageously expensive to go through training for a low paying job, but maybe the young up and coming flight school students need to be educated on the harsh realities of this life and steered away from the airlines. I know quite a few pilots who, had they been better educated on the matter, would have stopped after getting their private pilot cert so they could fly for fun and do something else for a living.

I'm a gifted university aviation student. Gimme gimmie gimmie.

FUN FACT: did you know we're the only professional industry that's underpaid? Teachers and public safety personnel all drive 40' boats to work. I saw a paramedic the other day with a solid gold house and a rocket car.

The government is the last entity I want to decide how much money we make.

Hey, I have good news for you! There is a place where you can go to see your dream idea alive and well...

It's called China!

They're not racist either, they will welcome you with open arms and a cornucopia of orange chicken, roasted duck, and all the egg rolls your little heart could desire.

Venture forth into your promised land...

This is possibly the most ridiculous post I've ever read on this forum.

Smart people see this industry for what it is and never become involve with it.

The only government regulation that would make any sense whatsoever, would be a hard cap on lifer pay. There's no reason a lifer should make north of 80k while an FO makes 20k. CA pay should top out around 50 with FO pay around 40. That is a much more fair distribution of the shrinking pie.
