So, you don't think ANY regional pilot is worth a fair living g wage for the job they perform....nice...

Who said you had to take 100k in loans in order to start at a 20k regional job? Did you do your homework beforehand? You could just as well have gotten a part time job (or a full time job) and paid-as-you-go. Private, Instrument, Commercial-Single, and CFI could all have been obtained this way. There are ways to start a regional pilot career. Not everyone starts off with a 100k debt with a loan. And since you took a loan, you are responsible for paying it off. You must have known what regional airlines paid before you started? Why do you expect tax payers to bail you out for your decisions?
+1. I paid all my training working as a minimum wage cook. I didn't go to some big 141 school. I'm debt free, and in a better position than most people I know.

40-50k a year is still well above the median salary and more than a "livable" wage for what is essentially an entry level job.

Captain at a regional is entry level? Why don't you ask px what they think? I guess a surgeon gets an entry level salary too.

That would explain the job losses and pay cuts and loss of pensions we've experienced this past decade. Those greedy unions. Arrr

(Unions are as much a part of the free market as joint ventures and mergers -- they're an attempt to restrict the supply of something, ie: labor.)

That's just a goofy comparison. A surgeon has well over a decade of advanced education and countless hours of training. Anyone with a GED and a willingness to sign for a 100k loan can go from zero to RJ hero in under 2 years.

I am PRAYING that this is just a guy stirring the pot...I know there are a few people that think the same way as the OP and frankly, their ignorance of how the real world works and their perceived relationship between Businesses, Individuals and Government scares me....

I assume if you are going to forgive student loan debt, that all of us that paid our obligation will get a refund?

The government if anything needs to make student loans harder to get! Why do you think college tuition has sky rocketed in the past decade? Student loans creating a huge supply of students who borrow the cost of tuition.

Also, We are far from the only profession that exits school with crippling student loan debt and low pay. I have a few doctor friends that are swimming in enough student loan debt to purchase a nice 4 bedroom house and the pay isn't necessarily high for them either.

The pay will eventually correct itself in the airline biz, it just takes time. And by time, I mean years, not months. It doesn't just change because you need it too.

I have more lives depending on me as captain in one day than any surgeon.
