I don't know what to tell you. He said he was starting class on Monday (today), and he had a ticket to start training. He never actually specified "as a pilot" but we assumed that when he asked if he could ride up front. I'm just relaying what I experienced. The last "official" word I heard was what you are saying though. Who knows. Maybe no one told him not to show up?

Congrats to the new hires at AWAC. When you do get a class date, you can save big $$$ by buying my uniform. Mine was over $500, and I used it for less than 2 months before getting a better offer. I have the following items available:
-Overcoat (46R)
-Jacket (Basso, 44L)
-Pants (Basso, 36W X 31L, 2 pair)
-Hat (Bancroft, 7-1/4)
-Tie
PM me if interested in negotiating a price.

If you guys are in the pool you are in good shape. Right now we are overstaffed and they are not running classes. But that will change. Don't worry. No word on when the next class will be, but attrition has not really been that high.
If AWAC flies where you want to be it can be a great place to work. If you are from the Midwest or West, it can be tricky.
But if you live in the East or Southeast the commutes are not too bad and if you live in domicile it can actually be pretty good.
Do you guys in the pool plan to commute? Or live in domicile?

I am in the pool. I want to live in Wisconsin, were im from(actually appleton. I grew up with the airline, and im really excited to finally work for them. Im in daytona beach now, worst place to live, and want to get out. Im planning on going to the domicile for a few months to get the hang of things, hopefully find a crash pad or something, and then figure it out from there. What do you do Saab? How long have you been flying for them? CA or FO? Like it? Hate it? What do ya think?

I am an F/O. I used to work for a large Swiss airline, but grew up in Appleton as well. After I got furloughed (permanently it would seem) I decided to return to what is familiar and signed up with AWAC. It has not turned out as planned.....
I have mixed emotions, but am glad to see more ATW folks join up. I hope we fly in the Midwest again someday. Skywest does.
We have a pretty good contract with decent pay and some good work rules. Flying on the east coast is much tougher than midwestern flying because of the traffic and weather situation. Both are much more intense than back in the midwest.
I am just short of upgrading now, but things have slowed down a lot, so I don't know when that will happen. I am based in ORF for now, but will be in DCA starting in Feb. Feel free to ask any questions. There are a few good AWAC people who post here and also have a good feel for how things are.
Tough times at the moment, but a very good pilot group. If AWAC does one thing right, it is that they do a pretty good job selecting pretty good pilots. You can be proud to work here, even if things are not how they should be.

I just flew with F/A nr. 3 in the whole company. She is friends with the ALPA MEC president and his word is that the deadline on the arbitrator's decision is coming up soon. No promises at all, but I think it is probable that we will get something soon, one way or another.
But don't base any decision on that!! Assume we lose and if we win then we can be happy. Maybe.
The commute from Florida to PHL or DCA is not bad, from what I hear. But commuting in general sucks.
