Default Jumpseat Etiquette

Since I am new to the game, I want to play by the rules!

What are the spoken/written and un-spoken/un-written rules of jumpseating?

Just want to make sure I don't **** anyone off or give my carrier bad press/gossip!

Thanks.....

With gate agents now giving seat assignments at the gate(some airlines) some pilots have not been checking in with the Captain. ALWAYS check in up front no matter what anyone says. Have your appropriate documents ready for inspection. Introduce yourself to the FO too if he's not busy...always though it was rude when guys look/talk only to the Capt(even when I was the Capt). Be friendly to everyone, especially the lead FA. Don't brag about flying for free to the other pax. I would answer their questions if asked but be smart. Thank them all on the way out...

The jumpseat is a privilidge, not a right. Keep that in mind and you'll be fine.

Either, just look presentable. Don't forget some "gum" if your sitting in the actual...

If you're B6, don't bother asking a Union carrier for a jumpseat.
