Default Access Logbook

Has anyone made an e-logbook in Microsoft Access? I've done one in Excel that I like but there are somethings I can't do in it. One of my friends recommended Access but I haven't the slightest clue how to use it. Anyone know?

Access is not a very user friendly program to use. I would recommend buying a little book about it if you plan on using it. I know how to use it, but only because I took four database classes (which I hated) in college.

What it will do for you is create spreadsheets, similar to excel, but you have a few options. You will enter your information in a "form," instead of just typing it into excel. If you get technical with it, you can divide your times and sort them in a cabazillion different ways. It's neat once you know the details of it, but there is no way in hell I would take the time to create an e-logbook with it.

Just use excel, or if you want to spend some bucks get LogBook Pro or SafeLog.

There are people who get degrees in how to build databases...

If you really want to "know" access, take a class. Buying a book and learning that way is pretty hard.

I took a bunch of database classes in college. I use LBP. It's way too much trouble to try to build my own, and LBP gives me more functionality. Not an ad for the product, just stating my position. Good luck.

The price of Logbook Pro is worth the time and aggravation that you'd spend trying to create a logbook worth a crap in Access... I'm talking days of work for an Access novice (a group in which I include myself!).

I have built one. PM me if you want a copy. I can customize any fields you want changed.
