First, I agree that the 16 year contract insulated American Eagle (Envoy) from the Regional market for too much for too long. Too many of our pilots as a result became disconnected to the realities around them which in turn led to the absolute nonsense we saw in 2014 when 70% of Envoy pilots rejected a perfectly good contract under the premise of "Nobody else can staff". PSA didn't make Envoy vote NO to that contract and in so far as that goes Envoy has nobody to blame but themselves.
But prior to that 16 year contract the whipsaw game was alive and well at AA with all the various Eagles. Yes, we were a collection of various wholly owned companies who flew under the "American Eagle" brand prior to 1997, just like today. Except back then there were many more than 3. All the Eagles back then were whipsawed against one another with extreme prejudice. Things got ugly...and I don't mean "acting like children on the internet" ugly. I'm talking about actual fights in crew rooms between pilot groups and more. Then in 1997 we were all merged as American Eagle and lived under a 16 year contract. That contract provided stability in what is a very unstable industry. Most importantly it protected us from the worse era in aviation history: 9/11 and the fallout of the next decade. |
Wasting time blaming others doesn't help anyone's position. There will always be guys stuck at the commuters as FO's for a long time.
You know the game, and know how to play it. Don't let that be you. Let the guys who complain on here about their situations, doing little about it, have that honor. |
Still no clarification from PSAJOBS. For those of you looking to gather info this should be rather telling. PSAJOBS is clearly a representative of management tasked with spreading rainbows and sunshine over the internet to help with recruiting efforts. I believe she originally said she was here to answer questions about PSA. Yet when faced with the harsh truth and tough questions PSAJOBS has no answer. PSAJOBS is not a line pilot, so how valuable is her opinion on the subject? Ask the pilots if you want to know what its like to fly for PSA.

We have sent more than 50% of new hire classes to AA the past several months. If we had a huge hard number fleet plan; do you think we'd have sent 66% instead of 50% recently? No, we'd ALWAYS get only the minimum.
Do us all the favor and at least admit that as you shrink, your labor costs go higher since the top 300 can't or won't be moving on. |

That's only because of Envoy's shrink and furlough plan. They don't want to lose all the pilots before you guys have to shutdown.

Ask away. 6 month upgrades and 3 new airplanes per month make for exciting times around here. It's a good time to be a PSA pilot. Nothing lasts forever so get in while its good.:)
You have 1200 pilots. Adding any more is just filling up your FO ranks. A pilot can do that at any regional right now and see a decent upgrade. The good thing is over. Trying to rope in others based on false info is wrong. May God have mercy on your soul! |

Youre full steam into moronvillenthis morning kiddo. Are going full troll now? Don't go full troll. You aren't very good at it. You need to be more subtle. Using bait like "envoy closing down(which is stupid) is not subtle enough. I'll give you a few points for the 300 lifers part, though it is more like 217.
