I would agree with you. If.

I have yet to come across such a person, however. And I've traveled all over the world. I hear they exist, just never met one. I've come to believe such a person is a rhetorical unicorn summoned to justify someone's opinion and beliefs about something, whether flying or some other endeavor, usually to justify their own (misplaced) sense of superiority.

No. I don't. Having fun (ie. flying) is my job, and I get paid for it. Doesn't sound like you can get paid for doing what you love most. That sucks.

Agree to disagree? I don't know you and you don't know me, let's leave it at that.

Of course. No hard feelings. Blue skies!

FOs upgrading out of seniority order creating the potential for a good ole' fashioned *** storm down the road.

Aircraft delivery slowing...

No flow, only 4 interviews per month

20 year wait before even getting to interview...

Their management pilots admitting in public that they don't care if their pilots are unable to fly visual approaches

Not to mention their pilot's seemingly bizarre notion that they are immune to reductions in flying, base closures, and the resultant displacements....things which every single other airline goes through at least every other year...

PSA pilots as of late:

On a serious note: for those of you who are still junior at PSA (chrisreedrules) don't get mad. I implore you to reflect on your decision and possibly make a move. We joke and poke at each other on this forum but all of this is deadly serious. Think about your long term career and realize that PSA's fake "quick upgrade" is not what is needed for you to get to mainline. A true flow means more these days than any PIC time....remember that at Envoy you can flow to AA as an FO. If you don't believe me, go look at the "who's been hired" thread on the Major forum. You think PIC time will help you get to Delta or United? Yeah, you and every single other Regional Captain and LCC pilot also has PIC time. Good luck with that....and next to military pilots with IP time it means NOTHING unless maybe you are on the friends & family plan.

Street hires at AA are strictly military at this point with a token amount of family...usually also military pilots. Envoy is 30/month and/or 50% of each class...that is largely the only way in to AA for civilian guys like us. Delta? Good luck...especially if you don't have a 4.0 GPA in rocket science and graduated in 4 years (only a slight exaggeration I assure you) and United is the same except for the high GPA requirement. The bulk of their new hires are also military....that leaves a token amount of civilian guys per month. You think you and 10,000 other pilots all with PIC time competing for the same position will get you in the door faster than a flow? Nope. Soon Delta will also establish a flow..possibly with Endeavor. It's the way of the future.

This is the reality that becomes of the regional model. Changing the minimums won't do squat. Chasing regionals is the worst idea. A perpetual precipice that maintains substandard wages. The greed of the individual will never subside. Fair enough. But don't complain at what will happen to those whom have laterally elected. Conversely, find some positive light in that all things happen for a reason. Blah

omg **** already!!! We get it, you hate PSA. Feel better about yourself now? While you're *****ing and moaning, other people are getting their PIC time after 6 months and getting the hell out to fly for a major airline. What are you doing in the meantime? You're obsessing over a regional airline. Get a life dude

Are they? So you know people who have gotten to get PIC time by uograding in less than 6 months and have already moved on to the majors? Ooookay

GravyTrain 05-20-2015 08:55 PM

I meant to say they're getting PIC time which will eventually bring them closer to getting a job at the majors while you people still cry over a game you simply can't win. Expressjet voted no and what happened? They started parking airplanes and everyone started moving back on the seniority list. You can't win this game, the house always wins, haven't you learned this by now? I know it makes you feel like you have a big d*** voting "against the establishment" but you can't win, so be smart and play along, get your time and get out.

Go on, whine a little more. Maybe you can create another anti-PSA thread. You people are ridiculous beyond belief it blows my mind. Really APC?

Exactly. These people thinking they will get quick PIC and move on like magic are freaking clueless to reality of major airline hiring. Thousands of regional pilots with 5x as many hours + TPIC, multiple type ratings, many more years of experience, line check airmen with stacks of recs are out there still waiting for those "major" phone calls.

UAL recruiter told me 8000 hrs was what is competitive right now.. People get in with less but not many..

Only those who are ex-militery IP and "have a buddy" at mainline.
