I'm Mad as Hell and I'm Not Going To Take It!
Like Peter Finch asked people to do in the movie Network, its time to yell out the windows "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
Another pilot group has pulled out defeat from the jaws of victory!
Gojet has been negotiating a new contract for years. They have no work rules now, they lose their pay when a trip cancels, a worthless 401K.
Most people know what Gojet is like and won't go there. Trips are canceling. The company is paying new hires 10,000 to go there. (However, you should read the find print!)
Options for the company? How about finishing the contract and pay market rates?
Instead, the pilots have given the company some leeway by agreeing to take 200% for picking up trips rather than the contract's 150%.
Lets do some math: You get an 85 hour line at very low pay because you can't get a new contract. The airline can't man their trips so rather than a contract with market rates to attract pilots, you agree to this 200% to help the company. You can't even average 5 of the enhanced hours per month because of the yearly limits, but lets assume you can. 85 hours times regular and 5 enhanced pays 95 hours so really you get 5 extra hours of pay for the same work. But, wait, don't forget, under the current contract you get 150% for the extra trip so it is really only 2.5 hours extra from what you were entitled to under the contract.
So now you get 95 hours of pay for what in the past would have been 92.5 hours of pay. 95/92.5 = 1.027. Thus, you have gotten a 2.7% raise. Congradulations Gojetters! Rather than the 50% raise the market demands, you have negotiated yourselves a 2.7% raise and gave up a day of your month. Union leadership! Everyone sing along - "So look for, that union label, when you are buy-ing that coat or tie!"
New hires get 10,000 extra. Current captains making, say 70/hr get a possible 2.5 hours x 12 months x 70 hours = $4200 if they were able to do that every month. Realistically, cut that in half and you end up with 2100 and gave them an extra 6 days of your year.
Its time to tell them "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
Who is with me?

Hey comair colon,
Why don't you quit and tell all your buddies to quit. I have no remorse for people like you who go to a place like go jet, and expect to be treated with respect. You knew the pay work rules before going there. Sadly I find pilot unity among the regionals to be dismal at best, and nearly non existant at a place like gojet, best of luck.
