Lateral move

Hey all. I currently work for GoJet. Long story short it really sucks. I am very heavily considering leaving for another regional. Surprise surprise, the recruiter and friends here lied. It's an abusive company. Trying to find an airline with a base in DFW, ATL, IAH or DEN. Any insight on such a place other than Mesa or Expressjet. Typed and current in the CRJ.

If you turn this into a pointless bashing thread, Jesus will be upset.

Would help to know you career goals and how much if any TPIC you have, and where you want to live.

Also...if ever asked (especially by a major airline!) why you made a lateral move don't tell them that your employer at the time sucked (even though it's likely true). Tell them you needed to make a geographic change, faster upgrade opportunity, or something tangible. Ie, it's OK to make a change for a specific and logical reason, but not OK to be disgruntled or complain about a past employer.

I would like to work at United. That's my final goal. I wouldn't complain about a former employer, I can make something up. I have about 400 TPIC. I'm a commuter, I own a home and have no intentions of leaving said home. Just a one hop commute

Seems to me that would leave Skywest in Denver or Envoy in Dallas.

I've put a lot of thought towards those two. Envoy would be my preference

On the united webinar the other day, one of the FAQs was about lateral moves. They said they don't recommend it. I forget how he worded it, but he said in a way that it showed poor decision making because you were disrupting you and your family's life. Also, they generally don't work out well. (Chasing the PIC time that is) I'm sure it's not something that'll ultimately disqualify you from UAL, but something to think about. Keep in mind, though, the FAQ was mostly geared toward people chasing the left seat. Your situation seems a bit different.

Definitely not chasing the left seat. I've got TPIC time. Just looking to change my QOL and ultimately have more family time (which is how I measure QOL).

Understandable! You could always make the argument you did it for you and your family too. If the question even came up anyway.
