It's scary there are actually certificated ATP Part 121 pilots who think they'd go around and stop at 1,500 AGL at ORD and make closed traffic. LOL, please, someone do this. The ensuing hilarity would be entertaining. Just make sure my family isn't on that plane.

The controller would not even be able to speak if someone leveled off at 1500agl and made left traffic. The departure's on 22L would have a view of this great procedure!!

This thread is hilarious. Oh, how many different opinions there are! Of course, this is APC, so who could imagine?

The facts are this: A visual approach IS NOT an instrument approach and DOES NOT have a missed approach procedure. In ORD or whatever controlled airport you are at, Tower will give the missed instructions/clearance. If at an uncontrolled airport, you are expected to remain clear of clouds and complete the landing as soon as possible.

SET WHATEVER YOU WANT in the FCU.

There. Thread complete.

No, not quite. Set whatever your company wants. They pay us to fly a certain way, so that's the way we should do it. If there's no guidance from your company, THEN set whatever you want... but make sure you sprinkle some knowledge and experience on it first

ORD ILS 14R. Go-around...and flew the published missed without ATC approval. That's a climbing right turn... and they were also using the 27R ILS (old ORD runway configuration) :-0

Needless to say the company had to put out a memo about real world flying.

If you were cleared for the ILS then you should do the climbing right turn unless you received alternate missed approach instructions.
