Airsupport, I see your point, but not all of us want to work until 65 to retire... I'd rather take the upgrade and larger paycheck now then work an extra 5 years.

I wonder how many will actually want to work until age 65?
It is likely that legislation will prevent those who have already retired from returning to their old seniority. It is also reasonably likely that there will be a phase-in...ie raise the age by one year each year, over a five year period, or something like that. Worst case...the music is about to stop! Do you have your chair? A nice comfy one that you'll be happy with for the next five years? Sucks to be at mesa right now   |

ok now you have to wait 5 years for someone to retire. so you upgrade at 45 and retire 20 years later at 65. you will still be a captain for 20 years.
I have no desire to be flying anything after age 60. We don't want to work longer for the same amount of pay!!! |
Things may slow down but they won't come to a screeching halt. So instead of running off to a legacy at 1500 TurbPIC now you'll have to have 3-4000. Once you get there instead of upgrading in 6-8 years now it will be 8-12. The bottom line is that a fraction will chose to work past 60 and be able to. I just don't think (in my opinion) that it will have that much effect, some but not as much as most are saying.

I imagine this is really gonna suck for the AE guys...who are already waiting long enough for upgrades. :(

This will have a very negative short-to-mid-term financial and mental impact on everyone except those near the top of their respective seniority lists. |
