Default Life at Comair

So I just got a interview invite for Comair. I've searched throught the forums to see if there were any pilot perspectives but can't find any. Anyone have a typical day in the life at Comair. Especially being based out of JFK since I hear that is where I'll probably be based first. Also does a JFK base also mean you could fly outa LGA too? I noticed some Comair flights fly outa there too. Not sure where i'd live either. Commute from DFW to CVG eventually or just stay in NY. Or live in BOS with my sister and commute from there. I guess I should get the job first.

I'd never turn down an opportunity to interview.

February 2nd is the big day. We'll soon know a lot more about Comair's future after then.

Are the company and ALPA still very far apart from being eye to eye?

honestly...I dont know. Nobody is really talking right now. The ALPA reps took us out to dinner a while back and, i know im an ALPA member, but after listening to them, they lost all credibility to me. I have never met 2 more negative people. The whole dinner all they did was b!tch about the Comair and the whole regional industry in general. I understand that Comair is in a rough situation but they pretty much in not so many words said "find a new job...this place is done".
Aside from them, I have not met a single negative person at this company. I really like how everyone is upbeat and positive that Comair will pull through this.

You have to understand that those guys fought VERY hard to get what they have now and to see it taken away is even harder to accept. They are well within their right to be negative about the situation. They had an opportunity to stay at an airline that would support them through the duration of their flying career. Now there is a large portion of the company that needs to re-evaluate their career path.

People can go to any regional now and make around $23 an hour to start. So it can be said there is no reason for a new hire to care. But, those "negative" guys who have years under their belts are your ALPA brothers and sisters and they deserve your respect.

They've earned it.

Just to answer a few here, as a junior fo you will most likely end up in JFK. We do fly out of LGA quite a bit but it's not a base, just a frequent flown destination. If I understood correctly, you're DFW so I recommend BOS for a commute if you do commute. If not, crash pad in JFK. Many new hires as well as senior pilots so should not be problem hooking up. As for ALPA and comair,Friday will be the day. All I can say from exp. is moral is at an all time low. Negativity or frustration is rampant, probably more frustration. Understand that all that was fought for is being thrown back at us and to add have been pay frozen for almost two years. Add the pay cuts on top of that, with Delta bragging about coming out of C-11 and stating profits, yeah, a little frustration. To my knowledge, there is no growth planned, only new hires as yourself, (welcome ) because of attrition. My advice, stay positive, focused, get thru training, see what happens and make descision based on this outcome. See ya online.

I couldnt agree more. If i was in the same situation these guys were, i would feel exactly the same and on the same page, i have nothing but respect for the guys who have made a career here and it absolutely sucks what is happening to them.

How long did it take to get an invite after you applied?
