I'm in my 20's, on track to make between 80-90k as a regional CA 3 years out of school. My friends who graduated from college with business/finance/accounting degrees are making far less.

The job market isn't great out there, and while I believe we are underpaid it isn't exactly sunshine and roses outside of the aviation industry.

Is the point of your story don't go work at United or Delta? Or you will end up with multiple spouses and kids in jail?

A heavy CA in your 20s? I don't know any heavy FOs in their 20s now. Not bashing you at all, just saying that things are different.

He said not at a major which I assume he means legacy. There are plenty of widebody CA's in their 20's today. Southern Air on the 777 has a couple for example.

PSA was simply the best choice. It still is when compared to other lesser contract airlines.

DH

That's a pretty sad and inaccurate statement to make about the pilot group in general. You must be working or have worked at pretty ****ty places.

If you're in a good place with a great pilot group, the people you'll fly with are the exact opposite of your description - and yeah, there's always the 2%.

Anybody that flies in the left seat (or in the right seat) and acts like an as*hole can be put in their place pretty easily. Nobody should have to put up with that - and the 2% are usually the bitter and uncultured who would hate any job anyway and feel like the world owes them everything.

Not to be a jerk, but what career path did you follow? Just curious.

I can see why some of you are stuck at the regional level. Sad.

Things are quite a bit different in this career path now than they were 30 years ago. A decade plus of stagnation, retirement age increases and bankruptcies, building up a pool of 20,000 highly qualified pilots that have been stagnating forever, now fighting over the few good paying flying jobs out there. No college? lol. Now you need a Masters to be competitive. Not to mention new cars now probably cost what your house cost back then and the current wages with inflation are half as much as they were 20 years ago.
