On the one hand, this is APC. Did you expect different?

On the other hand, how many new hires at your company last class/month?

Capt. Sully types out there, I have yet to meet some one who flew with him or worked with him that had anything nice to say about him. Arrogance, superiority complex, total disrespect for anyone younger, and a view that if you weren't prior military, you're not a real pilot. Yes, I could just imagine working with people like that! I am sure they are textbook examples of CRM. At least the younger guys coming from the military have shown to be humble professionals.

Quote: I've trained mil guys first hand and I can tell you that is not always the case.
When I was an instructor with Boeing, trained lots of civilian pilots, I can say the same......where did you work again???

Quote: No one is *gasp* trying to say a military pilot with zero 121 experience will be a better pilot in the beginning than a 5,000 hour regional pilot. The point you seem to be missing is that the big boys and girls are less interested in your flying skills than they are in the professionalism, leadership skills, and ability to operate in very high demand situations. A monkey can be taught to fly. But a monkey cannot be expected to lead people, be a manager, etc. That is why I think the majors are more interested in military folks, regional pilots with degrees, those who volunteer, and particularly those who have held management positions.

If you're a pilot, you can fly an airplane. If you're a leader, you can bring more to the table. And that is by no means limited to military folks. But from my short time around this particular block, the ones I hear of getting the calls do more within the company than push hunks of metal around the skies.
But the "big boys and girls" are just fine with the "professionalism, leadership skills, and ability to operate in high demand situations" of regional pilots as long as we have fewer than 77 of THEIR passengers on board? It's embarrassing when I'm jumpseating on mainline and the guy in the right seat (who has been with the company over a year) hasn't figured out how to call for push, or that it's not a good idea to call ops while crossing active runways, or the boards don't need to be used for 20 knot reductions in level flight, or asks the captain if they need to deice after finishing the walkaround, or the box doesn't need to be reprogramed if your sidesteping on a visual approach to a parallel runway with the autopilot off. There is a place to get experience in the environment in which your operating and that place should not include a 75/76 type rating. Period.

Quote: When ex-military guys are doing interviews who do you think they're gonna
want see getting hired? Nobody is saying the military pilots are inadequate
but they aren't all Chuck Yeager's either. We've all flown with good/bad pilots and you cannot judge the book by the cover.
I think the companies like military reserve and retirees because they come with their own health insurance for themselves and family and won't be using the companies medical benefits..... quite the savings right there.

To get back on the subject of the thread, Envoy has over 30 new hires for the month of April. Things are really picking up.

Can someone please give us the Gojet numbers for the last few months and where you poor guys came from?

Gojet has been hiring (or offering to hire) street captains. I understand there were a couple of Express Jet guys who came over. I bet things here were quite a shock. Good luck to them and the others.

Does anyone have the numbers? We don't have a good place to look and see here.

I was hired at Mesa in July of last year. As of today I have 267 below me and that doesn't include this months classes. My seniority number has gone up 113 since then.

A February new hire at Endeavor has 119 people below him now, and has moved up the list 105 slots.

I was hired at Skywest in May 2015. Over 800 behind me on the seniority list (includes those in training) and less than 800 between me and the most junior captain.
