Expressjet would be your best choice. Large base and very junior. United CPP about to cause lots of movement here by end of year..

well you are right, regarding the mandatory retirement, no questions about it, now factor in the possible merge between regional's, due to all the issues with staffing, or / and possible taking the regional flying to the mainline... it is hard to predict anything on today's world, so I believe in be ready and prepare for worst...
there is a big flux of new pilots into the business,(just look at Flight schools student load, more than they can train) they are a lot of them overseas, about to head back home, after teaching the Asians how to fly a plane... everyone is counting on all those nice new jets on order, and how much crews will be needed to staff them, but how about the airframes that will be retired meanwhile??? I dont think this will look so good in a couple of years, the peak of hiring was/is happening since 2014 up to the end of this year. I hope I am wrong.

That's what a lot of people said in 2007....

The $!tty part of this industry is we are only one 9/11 or recession away from the music stopping again. Then there's the talk of age 67, or God knows 68 or 70. A combination of those things and pilots will be back on the streets again. Hopefully we never see another perfect storm of bs like we had last decade, but we never know what the future has in store.

To the OP- I went to the regionals for a similar reason. I needed more jet time to advance my career flying corporate, and I wasn't getting it fast enough flying ~200 hours per year. I Went to the airline where I could be based at home and build time fast, and didn't do tons of research past that. After a few months at the airlines I decided that airline flying is where I belong, and I have no desire to go back to corporate flying. Now I'm having serious buyers remorse about the airline I picked. If I had planned to stay 121 I would have picked somewhere with different equipment and career progression opportunities, but after being at my company it's hard to leave behind 1.5 years seniority and start at the bottom (remember seniority is king in 121). Just my $.02.

Rumored, or factual? I hear lots of lifers on the ERJ side of the house. What's the minimum rsv time at EWR? How soon could one theoretically hold a line, in EWR?

Republic :
- Extremely short on crews in EWR
- Best pay (plus signing bonus)
- Better equipment (corporate people would prefer jet time)
- Rigs
- High quality of flying. (some days are two legs of flight time, 8 hours of flying, you are done)

I am between RAH, Expressjet, and Commutair.
RAH - I am worry about the future, bc of BK, and i am afraid they will not give me EWR. Like the idea of flying a E170.
Expressjet - I heard reserve time is going for over year and half, but I think they will be the next blooming regional in terms of upgrades and stability.
Commuttair - they are small, but they are growing, and growth is a good sign, Looks to me they are going on the opposite direction of RAH...

I think C5 has the best chance... good pay... best QOL of most. a flawed flow.. but its something.. fast upgrade... flying the smash8!!!!!! or the hair dryer... EWR base...

My friend there is very happy.

How so? They have no growth, they're quickly shrinking to their oblivion. RSV times are atrocious, as is their upgrade times.

All making for reasons why no one is going there, which only further exacerbates their problems.

But they have a great social media team!

this may sound stupid, but expressjet is showing signs of shrinking, everyone is leaving the boat ( which is normal when this things happen ) but I dont believe they will disapear.

they probably will hit (or already did) the bottom. If they dont close doors ( which i dont think it will happen... for some reason skywest bough them) they will be growing back up, and if you get there right on the beginning of that growth you will be golden. This is all about timing and that is what i am trying to figure out...

You are correct about things being very stagnant right now. However, with the United Career pathway you will be seeing LOTS of movement beginning around September. Reserve has been very lengthy due to lack of upgrades but this will also begin to drop early next year as the movement begins to happen. This is a good time to get on.
