If Express Jet needs FO's so badly, why aren't they offering a sign on bonus - even Skywest is paying one now...?

I was thinking the same...

Yes

"SkyWest is currently offering a $7500 bonus for those currently flying for a FAA Part 135 or has a type rating in a turbo jet aircraft > 12,500lbs. To be paid out upon completion of IOE."

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what side of the house SkyWest Inc is pushing money into; what side they intend to grow/sustain.

ExpressJet started the bonus pay. It appears the other side of the company lost their new hire pilots and told XJT to take it back down. This is taken from a google cached page.

Becoming an ExpressJet pilot has never been better. Starting today, we’re offering a $7,500 bonus to any new-hire pilot who has a CRJ 200/700/900 or ERJ 135/145 type rating.

“As the regional with the largest national network and established performance record, we are committed to bringing in the best pilots with the experience to fly our aircraft,” said Vice President of Flight Operations Brad Sheehan.

Qualified new-hire pilots will receive a $3,750 pre-tax bonus within seven to ten days after they successfully complete the training proficiency check. The additional $3,750 pre-tax bonus will be deposited after new-hire pilots have completed twelve months of service with ExpressJet.

If you’re ready to join the ExpressJet, or if you have questions about our type rating bonus program, contact [email protected].

This. Every quarter expressjet block hours decrease while Skywest increases their share. It's sad but expressjet's days are numbered. :(

When are people going to wake up, break out of denial, read the writing on the wall, and realize XJT has NO future. Management is at this point going to tell whatever lies they have to say just to keep the doors open until THEY decide to pull the plug. Looking in from the outside now, it seems so obvious. Get out now or stand in a long line less than 5 years from now! Nearly every airline beats XJT CA pay second year. Vote with your feet and choose to come to a company where you're treated like a professional adult, and compensated accordingly.
