And Skywest is startiing to falter on the flying that they've committed to as well.

IIRC, the ERJ renewal talks don't even begin until later this year. So that would be why they don't have anything slated for further out yet. But yet, the doom and gloom of many kill this airline. I'm not saying that we don't have our problems, as we do, but we are still in a much better position that many others as well.

And as far as upgrade time goes, the CRJ side will be about 6 years within the next year.

Oh really?

And 6 years is something to look forward to?

Now that the rate reset is done and supposedly postive it would probably be a good idea to bring on a limited amount of new airplanes. I believe we have a chicken or the egg problem here. If they announce more airplanes we would probably get new hires, but they aren't willing to take those new airplanes because they are afraid that the new hires wont come.

Before LOA 15 we probably would not have gotten the new hires even if we got new airplanes. Our new hire pay was one of the lowest in the industry and our upgrade time still would have been at least 3 or 4 years. Now that new hire pay is 37 for the 200 and 40 for the 70/90, I think that if they announnced growth we would be able to get the new hires.

Again this is all just opinion. I hope something good happens. I'm coming up on 4 years here and have no desire to go to another regional to get PIC time. I've already done the lateral move thing once, I'm not going to do it again.

Guess big U's fleet plan of 125, 50 seat RJ's by the end of 17 is nothing at all to worry about.
Thats what the first class passengers said on the titanic as well.

Could be good, or could be bad for the ERJ side. Plus, that is a plan that is 15 months away, a lot can change between now and then.

I don't think I would plan my career starting at an already dying regional on assumptions that may or may not happen.

Once again, is XJT all ERJ's, or is there a CRJ side with contracts that go for much longer?

unless they cancel the position notices come november. I'm at almost 9 years and still can't hold junior CA. I don't think the company really wants to upgrade anyone right now. More FOs leaving than CAs

9 years?Cant hold CA?? Wow.unless you live in base and dont want the headache of commuting ,why stick around? You can easily get a DEC position somewhere else im sure.
Even if i lived in base, after 9 years its probably time to move on in order to escape severe vareer stagnation.
