Hey was wondering if any of the guys/girls from the January Colgan class are on the forum here. I was in the previous class and interviewed with a couple of you guys. Your probably pretty close to finishing up and I wanted to say good luck. Also wondering if you have found out where you are going yet. For our class it was IAH, TYR, ROC, SYR, and a couple of those ones that start with J that nobody wants.

When I go to show at airports in the NE sometimes I'll see a Colgan FO in the ops area. They do nothing but b!tch. I'd say most of what SAAB says is warranted, from the personal interaction I've had with other Colgan pilots.

That may have been true when Colgan was upgrading 2 years faster than anybody else, but now I imagine Colgan may just become a stepping stone for guys who don't quite qualify for the good regionals.

thats funny since colgan has the same hiring mins as anyone else. Anybody dumb enough to stick it out at colgan for upgrade and then go to another regional deserves to stay in regional hell forever

Haven't you noticed? People b!tch no matter where they are, and the all congregate on this forum.
There are SWA guys who b!tch about using ANR headsets, regional guys at every single airline who b!tch about pay, schedules, CAL guys who b!tch about scabs and what the new guys are getting out of training, and just about everything else. If a given person is actually happy (rare), then they normally have someone b!tching at them.
Take a look around!

Anyway, if you read what the guy typed, he's saying more and more people will go to Colgan at a low time (say 500-600 TT) with the intention of getting a few hundred hours to move on to a place like SkyWest, ExpressJet, [insert regional of choice here].
Also, a lot of these regionals are going to become stepping stones to the fractionals, corporate, charter, etc. Places like Comair, ASA and TSA have had bottom level attrition for a long time now as FO's leave and more are hired into place. Bottom level attrition is not a good sign.
