Well I fly for XJT based at Dfw and was going to recommend you going to Envoy. However, after reading some of the snark replies from the Envoy people above, I no longer recommend you go to Envoy.
I was based at Dfw back in the ASA days when we flew for DL and for the last few years here again and always thought the Envoy guys were a good bunch of people. Might have to reassess my views on that though. Hopefully those envoy guys that posted above are the minority over there and the rest are still good people that wish no ill will upon fellow pilots.

Envoy will always have a dfw base. Probably one of the few certainties at envoy right now. XJT and envoy are both great places to work but the future of xjt in dfw is unclear.
Commuting at a regional vs driving to work are like night and day for this job. Being junior reserve (which you may be for sometime at eny/dfw) living in base will help with qol a lot.
Mesa in dfw has been rumored to be on the outs for a while. Now that all 40 eny 175s are slated for dfw, I'm not sure what that means for a reduction or status quo for mesa/dfw.
Good luck.

Just an update in the DFW 175 at Envoy. September bid has April '16 hires holding lines. It's going to be a nice seniority ride for the new hires getting the 175 from now till the end of the year.

Very nice. How long is the F/O seat lock? When will the senior F/O's start moving from other equipment to the 175?

This is pretty easy... Very rarely will I ever suggest someone coming to Envoy because there are better options. But, Envoy is the place you want to go if you don't want to commute. If commuting is an option then I suggest another regional. Express Jet is unfortunately shrinking in DFW. AAG announced it was moving 17 145s back to Envoy from ExpressJet. The 175s are continuing to come to DFW instead of ORD. As they increase MESA will likely continue to shrink. It has been rumored that MESA was leaving before they even got here so take this rumor with a grain of salt.

The trade-offs are mostly pay-centric E.G. higher hourly v. bonus and lower hourly. Add to that the futility of quantifying time to upgrade or get picked up by a legacy (how long is a 2 year contract?
) and the decision seems to hinge more on QOL factors.

I'd go to either one. I rode JS on a Xjet recently and they're a great bunch of guys. They are really helpful on getting me to where I need to be every time. On the other hand I have "heard" they are giving the 145s back to envoy and more than likely the DFW base. That's speculation but we can all do the math. Kind of a bummer because regardless of who you work for you never want to see that happen to anyone. As for me I commute out of DFW and all I can say is if you're looking for QOL dude go to ENY. Bottom line. I'll give it time before I decide to make a change. Best of luck to you and to everyone.

I'm in your position. Currently in DFW but picked up at SkyWest. I'm prepared to pack up and move to base because I'm sure I will hate commuting.
