The 1500 hour rule is the best thing that has ever happened to the regional pilots.

It is worth the wait, considering most CFI's make much more than they used to, and first year FO salary has more than doubled.

The old hiring minimums for the regionals were not far from 1500 anyways.

Agreed, I was telling myself that this morning on my 4th hour in the DA40 with moderate turbulence and a whining student. Definitely eyeballing AAG WOs but I was doing that before they upped the pay and I want to go back to the east coast... I'm actually from Greensboro and did my training in Concord.. saw your "CLT.."

Keep it up brother. It will all be worth it when you're on this side of 1500. I know it sucks grinding it out to get there, but you'll be entering a world that's far better because you had to.

Of course pay hurts, but excess regulations hurt too. The 1500 hour rule is killing the regionals. Also, the fact that a college degree + flight training is close to $200k is keeping a lot of people from pursuing this direction.

So it's not just the pay, there are multiple factors. Even if the pay increases drastically (which it is), there will still be a shortage for the forseeable future.
200k? You're doing it wrong.

Wait until your in the right seat of the next aluminum can with a crap person next to you and whining flight attendants and your scratching all day from bed bug bites. You'll long for the days of being a cfi.

Enjoy being a cfi. Sometimes i wish i could just bust out a lazy 8. If i could make 80k a year being a cfi, i would do that for the rest of my life with a smile on my face.

Bed bugs. Man what hotels are they putting you up in?
The whole thing sounds like torture.
My case may be an anomaly but this has not been my experience whatsoever. I've flown with people who I would catagorize as "not my favorite" but your experience sounds absolutely miserable.
