... the media would love to blow that one out of proportion... the media's deception could actually do us some good this time. You should submit a carefully drafted letter along with it explaining the inside of being a pilot and maybe we could actually get some public support, because let's face no one would want to be flown around in an airliner if they actually knew how much the newhire in the rightseat actually made and what the QOL really was... it's a far stretch from the romanticized lifestyle that most people still believe exsists in the airlines.

I think the best way to pay pilots would be to have them enter a PIN number on the FMC as soon as they got on board the aircraft and use it again just before they get off.
I think most people would agree that the top end guys do just fine, the low wages are mostly present at regionals and some first year FO pay at majors (CAL 29K for first year FOs, no matter what equipment!)

Agree. And it should be those currently flying - which I am not. If USA Today "letters to the editor" recieved multiple copies with "professional sounding" cover letters, it might just get published.
Start writing folks. Flood them with information !
