I hope for it, we literally haven't had any news since we emerged from BK. Our 170's are older than methuselah too...

I have another question regarding training? Is the CTP class a separate class from the "normal" training and do you get paid for it? If not how long is CTP training?

Completely separate and no you don’t get paid while attending. Republic pays for the class, but you’ll pay the taxes on it. It’s one week.

Does CTP class count as your start date? If not how fare apart is the CTP class from your start date usually scheduled?

No, you are still not an employee in CTP class. Usually it's scheduled about a week or so prior to your actual start date. They are also switching to an in house CTP program so it may be changing.

At what point in the process do you actually take the ATP written and check ride?

My group's ATP knowledge test happened the day after finishing the CTP course and sims. Ours was done through 3rd party vendor L3.

The ATP checkride is done by Republic check airmen and happens much later, after completing all AQP events - indoc, systems, efpts and sims. For most it's a type certificate checkride and ATP checkride. Our AQP syllabus calls this LOE - Line oriented evaluation.

The checkride is the last thing you do before the company lets you touch an airplane with passengers.

It's easier to understand if you think of the ATP written just like any other written you have taken. CPT is just basically ground school that is required for the ATP written, just like you had ground school for your PPL, Instrument, etc. At the end of CPT you get an endorsement to take the ATP written, then you go to an offsite testing center to take it, just like you are taking the PPL written (actually, there may be somebody there taking the PPL written at the same time).

Now about the checkride, did you take the PPL checkride right after you took the PPL written? No, you probably went through a bunch of training first. However, the PPL written was required for the checkride. It is no different for your ATP, your checkride will come much later in training when you are trained and ready for it. The ATP written score results will be required to have in hand for that checkride.
