We were but I don’t think we are as of right now. The only South American city we had, as far as I knew, was Barranquilla.

You forgot to thank the Captain who bid those day trips and then managed to over block them by an hour plus each day. I guess flying near green dot is great until you screw everyone and the mainline partner takes notice.

Ahh. Same reason we lost ORD-SLC when we used to fly AA out of ORD.

What is the best base for commuters? Late start/early release/long trips.

ORD, hands down. Best overall commutability of all bases and has plenty of 3-4 day trips.

For NYC non-commuters, what percentage of lines/trips (however your PBS works), start and end in domicile? What are the odds you can build a schedule to be home every night?

Pretty off topic, I know, but since someone started talking ORD, I figured it was better than starting a new thread.

All trips start and end in domicile. There are a fair amount of 2 day and day trips in EWR and LGA. Perhaps more in LGA. If you want to be home often, all you need is 6-9 months seniority and you can do it. I’ve been here 2 years and if I wanted I could do day trips and 2 days in EWR and be home 25 nights a month.

To add to what was said above, it seems lately even a jr line holder can be home every night. People always drop the turns in the front and back of trips. After the first week trading opens, there are tons of minimum day credit trips available. With some luck a jr line holder could conceivably make an all daytrip schedule, albeit you'd be working 18/19 on and 12 off. It's better the other way around but you'd need to be in the top 30% of the base FO list for that. At least this is how it is in LGA.

I second this. As a reservist, I was always getting sent to LGA to sit out of base. They would put me on early show day trips that were just an out-and-back, then send me back to the hotel. If someone who leaves near LGA wants easy day trips just ask Scheduling to alert you about them before they assign them to a reserve. You will also make some reserve guy happy.
