Question Commuting from KSEA

Anybody with Republic tried this? Looked around a various threads and havn't found where anyone talked about this.

Any particular bases that may be more conducive? I figure the outstations will be harder for sure. I have a lot of ties here that would prevent relocating and just wondering how feasible this might be before applying to RAH.

Use this and figure out how many direct flights there are from SEA to each crew base

Thx. I had seen this site mentioned in a different thread but hadn't been able to find it again.

That sounds awful. I know some folks do commute from the west coast, but why? Republic is a midwestern and eastern airline. There used to be bases out west, and they could return one day, but no guarantees. All of our bases are far away from SEA. The outstations would require a two leg commute. This is making my head hurt to think about actually doing this.

Quite honestly, why not look into horizon or compass since you’re in the Pacific Northwest? Republic is strictly an east coast and Midwest operation with a smattering if flights out of Denver. There will never be any sort of western domicile. Commuting sucks. Commuting to reserve in LaGuardia or Newark from Seattle would be a special kind of hell that will literally suck your will to live.

I am looking at both of those. Just keeping and open mind and exploring all my options.

Commuting to a Midwest\East Coast base is certainly not my preferred option. However from what I've read, Republic seems like a decent place to go and their pay is a little better so I didn't want to discount them out of hand.

I have a fair amount of previous aviation experience (135), but am new to the 121 world and I was just wondering if anyone had tried\made this work.

At Compass you would be awarded SEA before you finished training. Food for thought from someone who lives on the west coast and left YX for CP because the commute was sucking the life out of him. You can not put a price on driving to work.

Thanks JD. I have applied at CP but it seems maybe their recruiting efforts have slowed a bit so I was just looking at other options as well. This is definitely good information to know

I chatted with compass recruiters at Oshkosh and was told their classes are backed up till January.

Republic is definitely a decent place as far as regionals go. But I’d have to say that the cross country commute would be the biggest negative impact on quality of life, especially if you have a family. 😎
