West flying

Guys and gals that have been here a while. Have we ever had a consistent presence west of the Mississippi?

It's almost as if Republic doesn't have any plans on being anything other than the east coast airline. If Skywest can get in to LGA whats stopping Republic from moving west? Our codeshare partners? BB's complete inability to see the value in having a western presence? Too far from the Mecca in Indy? I was hoping with IAH opening up we'd see some more (at the very least) southwestern region flying. But all we do is route through EWR or LGA and spend our days twiddling our thumbs while we wait for that EDCT. I've been here 3 years and upgrade in a few months in to EWR, so it doesn't really matter. But western options would do wonders for this place.

I'm sure all airlines are the same, but the lack of information from the top is unreal. We lose American and Delta in Chicago, no word from the company. Lost flying to Airwhiskey, Envoy and Skyw, no word from the company. For all the pros this company has to offer, there sure are a lot of cons.

Did we lose American and delta in Chicago recently? Where can i read about this?

BB was interested in expanding westward and buying TSA was supposed to provide that. However, when that deal fell through I supposed our prospects of flying to the west coast fell through with that. However, I have seen some more New Mexico, Colorado, SLC, and Montana flying lately.

American went to wholly owned at ORD more then a year ago. Delta went to Skywest 6 months ago however I heard we are getting a few of those lines back at ORD.

I'm hoping that is why we are hiring like it's going out of style.. maybe bolstering our depth on the bench to make a run at a few of these contracts that will be open in the '19-'21 time frame? The only thing that makes me hesitant to this theory is that we don't/won't have any new aircraft unless this LOI turns into a firm order....

The "West Coast" question was often asked during the time WH was there.

"too far from the IND/CMH maintenance footprint" was generally the response.

We haven’t had AA in Chicago in over 2 years and Delta went away the beginning of this year. Nothing to really read about. Republic just isn’t good at appealing to the codeshare partners unless it adversely affect an outstation or NY.

We’ve had both crew AND mtc bases in Denver several times. Stay in the industry long enough and you’ll see the flying shifts around over time. Change is the one constant.

Republic management is very adverse to western bases. Yes we had DEN twice, but only for a total of 3 years. Most was Q400 flying. We also had a very small base in IFP (Laughlin/Bullhead), but we had less the 20 pilots in that base.

Do not come to republic expecting a west coast base. Plenty of west coast regionals, and republic is not one of them.

7/9 of my overnights in Novermeber are west of the Mississippi with 4 of those seven being in the Mountain Time Zone.

Sure we could fly more out there, and I would love that, but to say we only fly east of the Mississippi is sort of stretch. Now if your strictly talking bases than it's a pretty fair statement.
