LOAs at Republic?

LOAs at Republic?
Does anyone have good knowledge or experience with getting a Leave of Absence from Republic?
I may be asking for one and was curious on how the LOAs actual went in practice. As background I’m a relatively recent hire, honestly like the company and jet, but I’ve been offered a job back in my old line of work. In airline speak, it is paying at WB captain rates for a legacy carrier, but I would be home every night with the family. The contract would be for 18 months, although the position my get an option for a longer period. Is this something that the company would give an LOA for or are they likely to just say “see-ya and fill out an app again in 18 months” instead?

I don’t know what the company’s stance on it would be (though I could guess), but I’d imagine any line pilot would probably tell you it’s a bunch of hot garbage for them to give it to you, especially under those circumstances.
Why would anyone be happy to see you on a LOA building seniority, making that kind of money? There’s zero benefit to anyone but you.
You need to do what’s best for you and your family, and I wouldn’t fault you for that. But I wouldn’t ask for an LOA in this case. It’s a bit of a * move.

You can request a personal leave of absence. It really can’t hurt to ask. If they say no, simply quit and go make some actual money. It’s not like you won’t be able to get another regional job. Seriously. Do what’s best for your situation and don’t give a second thought to the jealous little *****es.

It’s in the CBA, but basically you have to be employed for at least 12 months, and submit the request to management. I’m not aware of a personal LOA ever being approved, but if you have a very good reason, maybe it gets approved.

They have been used, but it’s typically for extenuating circumstances or hardships that aren’t covered under any other form of leave (IE, your wife is diagnosed with cancer requiring you to be home and you aren’t eligible for FMLA yet, etc).
I highly doubt they’ll allow you a LOA to go make money somewhere else. Explain why you need to quit on good terms (follow the CBA!), go make your cash money, and come back and start over (I’m sure we’ll be hiring). It’s the most fair option for you, the company, and your fellow crew members.

Slow—scanned the pilot contract and couldn’t find anything on resigning from the company. The associates handbook has a section, 2.2.6, which matches what I vaguely remember from Indoc. Two weeks’ notice, pay back any unearned bonus, uniform/luggage (I’m still less than a year in)... Am I missing something?

Article 9.F. talks about returning after a separation...
