You can pick up trips in any base on off days.

Thanks! Just to clarify, if you are on long cal and EWR based you would still be allowed to pick up out of base trips?

Yes for both. You can easily pick up trips on your off days, and you can pick up trips from any base in the system. It is all automatically done through Flica and is very simple. If you actually want to pick up a trip during a reserve pairing, it becomes a bit more difficult. The trip usually has to be in your base and and it also has to extend into a day off.

Not completely true.
You can pick up a trip that starts or finishes on a day off in base or out of base.
If you don’t want to pick up on a day off the only way is via long call.

Yes. But when we bid we can only bid in base. Same with SAP. But open time is free game for all bases. I’m in Ewr and picked up a 30 hour Nassau over night out of Miami. Getting home on my own sucked because it’s always full but it’s worth it.

I wouldn’t say it is easy to pick up trips while on reserve. Keep in mind, you are only going to have 12 days off and on those 12 days you can’t pick up anything that breaks Part 117 reps and company buffers. You can do it, but don’t think you are going to pick up a ton of hours of OT while on reserve like you can when you have a line.

Concerning reserving the JS, yes you can reserve it, but you will still have to be proactive when using the JS. Show up plenty early to check in. Some of the Hate Agents make it much tougher then it needs to be.

In my experience, picking up flying while having a reserve schedule isn’t as hard as people make it out to be. You just have to really understand part 117 and watch the open time board like a hawk. You also have to be able and willing to pick up trips out of other bases.
You can also request to just flat out drop your reserve days and pick up things from OT and/or the trade board.
I want to maintain *some* level of anonymity. I have been on reserve for a “few” months and have blocked over 90 hours for all of them.
