thanks. So it has to be 121 SIC; Republic doesn’t accept 135 commuter pic towards the upgrade? It’s 121.436(a)(3) which has the requirements listed and I know from the FAA 135 ME commuter PIC time counts.

As far as I know, this is a company-imposed limitation and I believe you are correct.

I'm just guessing here, but I would expect this to be something the company looks to change in our upcoming contract negotiations, along with the 2500 TT requirement. Will be interesting to see what they offer in return...

hope they don’t. Flying a 402 at cape air for a 1000 hours doesn’t quite necessarily prepare someone to fly a 40-80k lbs jet.

No, but flying for 1000 hours with an R-ATP at Republic and still not being qualified to upgrade for another 500 hours is a little silly, in my opinion.

Their house their rules.
Light weight piston PIC shouldn’t count just from a common sense perspective.
Now if this was something piston that requires a type rating then its a different kettle of fish.
Maybe…..
Be ambitious but don’t be too eager to upgrade, it’s a different world.

Oh yes the fine print on the fancy 4 year aviation degree. Lol.

Jokes aside. Still don’t think it should be moved.

I think is is perfectly reasonable for a 1000 hour Part 121 R-ATP should be eligible for the upgrade before the 2500 hour mark if they feel ready. That’s just my opinion.

while not entirely false…can we admit these number are very very arbitrary? Why is someone ready to upgrade with 1000 hours and not 950? Or 1100?

Its not about them “feeling” ready.
I’m sure they felt ready to solo too, not quite there yet ace.
