Base seniority

Hello all, I am wondering how long it would take to hold a line at IAH as a new hire, or if it is more of a senior base in the first place. Does a new hire get much of a say when it comes to domicile choice? Thanks, I appreciate all feedback and opinions.

Spend a little bit of time reading through the thread below. The last couple of pages has what you’re looking for.

Giving this thread a little bump here, can anybody tell me what base seniority for FO's is looking like? Got an interview date coming up quick! I'd love to get SDF within a year...

You'll get SDF before you're done with training. None of our bases are senior on the FO side; all 10 have been awarded to new hires in the last month.

As you work your way up the list you'll find some, like ORD and IND, tend to have more senior FOs which can make movement somewhat difficult, but there is going to be so much movement in the coming months you will advance quickly just about anywhere, SDF included.

Thank you for the response, this is good to see. Although I can't see why anyone who has a choice would choose to domicile in ORD...

Possibly the easiest commute from anywhere in the country, including driving distance from multiple other cities. Plentiful crashpads, easy access to shuttles & public transit to/from the airport, and a lot of recreational activities.

Do you think by the end if the year, or at least by November, bases will be filled with pilots? How much longer do you think it will take for them to actually stop giving people what they want? (Base wise)

Oh yeah, I forgot that most people don't need to live in base. I take back what I said about Chicago

What are the trips like from Chicago? 0.6-0.7s or are they longer? How about overnights?

With the crazy hiring I'd guess it'll stay like this for a while. Legacies and LCCs are taking our pilots in big numbers right now. Captains are leaving, FOs are leaving/upgrading quickly, so there's lots of movementin the list. Unless there's another shutdown I'd guess you'll be able to get whatever base you want. Upgrade, not so much.
