The issue is, in part, that we can only have one listing checked in. So while we can make a D6 listing and an AAC listing, at the gate we have to gamble on which one to have checked in.

My procedure is:

1) List for and check in as AAC up to 24 hours out;
2) List on myidtravel as a D6.
3) At the gate, speak to the gate agent upon arrival (usually close to 1 hour prior) and ask them based on what they see which is more likely to get me on.

If they say jumpseat, they have to uncheck me in for my AAC listing, forfeiting the cabin priority I would have over D3s (and possibly other AACs depending on time of check in). If someone with priority for me over the jumpseat comes up and lists, I'm not at risk of having a D3 trump me for a seat that would've been mine had I been allowed to keep the AAC listing.

Also, thanks for the respectful dialogue. Your questions are totally fair, and I think we all appreciate your honest attempt to fully understand the situation.

Cheers.

I am going to reach out to my union but here is another question before I do:

Is DL and UAL giving the AAC FDJ? I am getting conflicting information.

our union is claiming our SWA js agreement would be in jeopardy if we make this change….I honestly don’t believe that but I’ll talk to them and see what they say. Seems like you all have been waiting years to get this fixed, seems reasonable to me but I honestly dont know.

thanks for all the information.

How does it work for RPA pilots listing on AA?

We have a few issues with a js over here at AA: no access to cabin js, no second 737 js, and any eagle fdj trumps an AA pilot even if not there metal but a fellow eagle flight (psa fdj get priority on envoy over AA). Guess we will just add this AAC issue to the list
Part of the confusion besides the APA just straight up lying to your pilot group is the manner in which AA handles the JS.

At most airlines listing for a JS is separate from listing for nonrev. When you list for the JS you get priority for the JS but you go below the nonrevs for a seat in the back.

AA pilots get to keep their priority for a seat in the back as D2 FDJ while having access to the JS. It's a good system. I'm not going to knock it.

AAC is a nonrev listing. It is the same as D2 for a ramper or mechanic etc. The priority is D1 D2 AAC D3 D6 D7. When we list AAC we cannot ride the JS so if flight is full and we need the JS or there's a possibility of needing the JS we have to cancel our AAC listing and list D6 since AA prohibits multiple listings for the same flight. Once we cancel our AAC listing we are now below all the D3. At the same time if say a Delta pilot showed up and was already checked in D6 before we got to the gate then the Delta pilot goes ahead of us for the JS and seats in the back.

While it's not called AAC FDJ, they do give us a slight jumpseat priority bump over other airlines not flying Delta or United brands.

I don't think SWA js would be in jeopardy either. Delta and United pilots can jumpseat on them..

We are asking to go below every single AAG pilot (AA and wholly owneds) and ahead of OAL.

It is Industry Standard for the mainline carrier to give priority as follows:

Mainline pilots.

Wholly owned pilots.

Non wholly owned pilots.

OAL pilots.

That's a gross oversimplification since there are multiple scenarios depending on the operating carrier. As an example take a PDT flight. If an AA and PSA and Republic pilot show up then the priority goes PSA AA Republic etc

Good luck getting the baby boomers to backtrack. They chose this for you all and are still sending out emails full of lies

I don't understand why APA/AA won't just add another category. What gives?

Talked to our union rep and…

fedex, jetblue, swa and others sent memos to our management asking us to not make an AAC FDJ. Additionally we are the only carrier who gives priority to RPA employees in the cabin of RPA operated flights. My rep stated that rpa wants priority on 100% of AAG flights yet is only offering priority on 30% of RPA flights. He also said UAL and DL are to going relook at the RPA priority.

dont shoot the messenger
