Come one, come all NEW HIRES! Republic has decided to invest in a brand spanking new training center, WITH HOTEL ROOMS, versus investing in the pilot group with raises or bonuses. This is the BEST regional. You will get to stay in a hotel room, ON CAMPUS, and your bed sheets will have the Republic logo on them. THIS IS BASICALLY JETBLUE UNIVERSITY 2.0 Don't hesitate, APPLY NOW!

If they TRULY wanted to be competitive they would have moved training to a hub to avoid double leg commutes for half of the pilot group. But I’m sure Chicago and NY had zero desire to issue Republic tax breaks. Hence Indiana lol.

From the people who are on the inside, what would be the con of this investment? Is training really that all over the place?
I thought that compensation and increase in soft pay would make the group more competitive. Not a building, but I’m not on property yet so I have no idea how things are over there.

The centralized training facility will be a great improvement. Currently, classes are having to be split between St. Louis & Cincinnati for the full motion sims, and then they have to go back to IND for a couple of line oriented flight training sessions, and then they go back to either Cinci or St. Louis for their check ride. It’s not ideal, but it’s also not huge inconvenience. Personally, I enjoyed getting a change of scenery as opposed to being in one place for 3 months straight.
I think the assumption by many is that we are getting this flight training center in lieu of any pay raises, bonuses, etc. I don’t think that’s necessarily the case, and the two are not mutually exclusive. People are in a tizzy because the AA wholly owned are publishing a bunch of eye candy bonuses that are extraordinarily horribly structured. I expect to see favorable hard & soft pay numbers in the new contract, and almost certainly will include an improved commuter clause.

I think there are a lot of assumptions being made, TBH.

We won't see a new contract until early 2023 at B.E.S.T

Don't let YX fanboy and cheerleader Andy lead you to believe that we're close to a new contract. The truth is that we are nowhere near a new contract. It's been crickets from the NC, and per the last update, the majority of the articles haven't even started negotiations.
