Wouldn’t you also be constantly bumped for about two years as FO’s who upgrade will have seniority over a DEC?

Probably, but I just need some more TPIC to be competitive where I want to go. Plus, I'm within driving distance from CMH. I just wasn't sure if you all had long-call reserve or not; however, I'm sure if it's like when I was with the regionals, LCR went fairly senior. But yes, I would think a DEC would forever be on reserve until he/she gets to their destination airline.

Republic sets about 10% of reserves SYSTEM WIDE long call, meaning one base can have several long call pilots while another base has 0. As a junior DEC you won't see long call for a long time,, and when you finally do they will just convert you back to short call.

Long call at Republic is basically worthless.

As a DEC every pilot that upgrades will leapfrog you. You will be junior forever.

guys always make this argument against DEC’s. But the whole reason an airline needs DEC’s is because guys aren’t upgrading. I doubt the leapfrog will be an issue before he gets the minimal time he needs and moved on.

Exactly. It's not a long-term decision, but any pilot finding themselves wanting to get back into 121 and get some TPIC time will think once or twice about the DEC option. My only fear is that the economy will slow and one could become "stuck".

2,000 121 including mostly SIC and some PIC before I left to fly freight. I then left for a corporate job that didn't go as advertised. So I'm just figuring out what to do from here.
