Default DEC CMH Base

Can anyone attest to how things would be for a DEC living within driving distance to CMH? yay or nay? Is it worth it? Attainable to get CMH out of training? Thanks in advance!

With your experience, I would shoot for a LCC. No reason to go to any regional at the moment

Somewhat disappointingly, a recruiter recently (as in earlier this week) said that a DEC should only expect to be on reserve for 6 - 9 months.

(Disappointing in as much as I've not heard anything remotely close to that from folks flying at Republic.)

Maybe something's changed?

Here's some perspective. I flew with a CMH captain with 6 years of seniority who still bids reserve in order to get weekends off

This^^. CMH, IND, ORD, PIT are all super senior. I've flown with many 7 yr CA who are still getting all the ****ty trips, but are lifers here. With block hours dropping and our top 60% of the CA seniority list in CMH not going anywhere, you may not get CMH right away. I'm living a good life as a somewhat senior FO (2nd career) in CMH and I'm hesitant to upgrade because I know my life is going to go to he!!, lol.

So, basically a new hire DEC won't have any control over his/her days off for quite some time? I'm familiar with PBS and swapping/dropping but I'm imagining in my mind that the reserve grid always staying red with how short you all are on captains.

Do reserves typically get flown a ton? Thanks for the info!

Reserve CAs are used and abused to the full extent of the law. Welcome aboard.

Do you all have long-call reserve? I can't seem to remember if you do or don't. I'm sure that typically goes pretty senior too.
