I know noting about Expressjet but have been at Republic (Chautauqua) for a little over 3 weeks and can say I am not impressed at all. In fact I am very disappointed. It seems everything is the absolute bare bones minimum. I was shocked when I found out the majority of airplanes don't have ACARS. No electronic weight and balance. You have to spin the wheel and do a manual W/B each and every leg. I don't mean to complain here but in this day and age we're pulling out a calculator and writing on a piece of paper for W/B when computers are so available with programs that take most of the error out? Have to call back to give your out and off times. With an operation this big it is disappointing not to have an ACARS capability.
Adios

A little bit of advice. Most FO's can knock out a WB form and spin the wheel in under 2 minutes. You get a lot of practice, this is much faster than sending your info off via acars. All the 140's in ORD have acars, mostly just used for digital atis and times. Other CHQ planes use tamdar for the times.
Everyone is very aware of the shortcomings of the POH and the procedures. You will get an opportunity to voice your displeasure to the very guys who wrote the manuals and designed the program. They will be administering your oral and simulator checkride. Have fun with that.
Lastly training is stressful, CHQ more than most. Try to stay focused and keep a good attitude. No one likes a whiny newhire FO, doesn't matter if it is here at CHQ or at holy grail mainline airline. Feel free to vent on our union board but don't air the dirty laundry in public. Our bases are small enough you will earn your reputation quickly, try to make it a good one.

Disclaimer - no animosity is being directed to any of the RAH folks affected by this fleet change
I read that US Airways is reclaiming 5 of the Republic 190's. Two in the Fourth Quarter of 2012 and three in the First Quarter of 2013.
Derek J. Kerr Airways CFO
"Also in July, we reached an agreement in principle with Republic to reacquire 5 Embraer 190 aircraft, which will be flown at the mainline and used to replace regional aircraft that will be returned or retired in 2013. This aircraft acquisition is subject to, among other things, definitive agreements and final approvals of the parties. We anticipate the first 2 deliveries will go into service in the fourth quarter, with the final 3 expected in early 2013."
Will this affect hiring at the other certificates if/when the Republic guys get displaced?
