Considering the man served in the military and is retired from a different government agency you might want to be careful with the old man jokes, not all folks who enter this industry are a failure at other places... Actually he has been in this industry for decades, just saying! All he was doing was expressing his disappointment on the way RAH operates the specific certificate he is assigned to. Most come here looking for answers and information with regards to the different regionals, RAH is a bare bone operator with a mediocre contract and he was just expressing his feelings.

Seniority? ***? You've been here 3 weeks. Stop using the word "seniority" ...knock off the entitlement attitude.
Dude, I only used seniority in my first post so I have stopped using it. I guess you are someone in authority so I'll ask this question. When can I use the word seniority? After I've been here 5 weeks, 5 months, 5 years? Where is it written so I can be sure and not offend someone with such tender feelings? What if I use it before that? Will I get in trouble? Will you come and find me and discipline me?

As far as the POH. That is my opinion. Don't like my opinion? My opinion hurt your tender feelings? Sorry, that wasn't my intent. I was responding to the ops question.

We were told by the instructor that there was supposed to be 30. I didn't just make it up.

I'm not on the other certificates. I was just expressing my surprise that an operation as big as Republic didn't have ACARS on all their planes. Sorry if that hit a nerve or bruised your feelings.

What entitlement attitude? Is expecting seniority to be applied in a profession where seniority is everything an "entitlement " attitude? If so, me and quite a few other pilots have an "entitlement" attitude.

Sounds like you're a pretty angry individual with tender feelings and those two traits don't mix well.

I don't want this to get into a pi$$ing contest so you express your hurt feelings and I promise I won't respond any further. None of this is constructive. Take your best shot.

Thank you!

I was really expressing an observation of what I have experienced and seen here. Sometimes expectations and reality can cause problems like it has here for me. May not be that big of a deal after I get used to it. I mentioned the ACARS because it dove tails with the bare bones comment. That was just the example I chose to use.

I guess the feeling here at Republic are tender and I should be careful what I say because I may hurt some feelings. Again, not my intent.

Old man jokes? I was simply pointing out something that I felt was irrelevant to what I posted. I'll say it again, if the ACARS and manual W&B are already an issue, I have a feeling that large contractual voids in work rules are going to be a larger issue when this pilot gets online (if he is not already.)

I don't want people to turn down a job here because our airplanes don't have ACARS, I want them to turn it down because the two year upgrades are long gone, compensation is below industry standard, and because our work rules royally suck.

A genuine thanks for serving in the military Sir. I'm a guard guy myself.

No offense, but you haven't seen anything yet. Make it through training, IOE, and some life on the line and then you will understand what we have been going through. Yeah, we take offense to a newbie walking into the door and talking about how bad our place sucks. We know it sucks. We are trying to change it as we can. We have a few guys here that as a new F/O think they know everything about the industry. Lets just say, they are not well liked. Don't be "That Guy"

Constructive criticism I can take. Thanks Big Duke. You are right. I do not want to be that guy. However, I never said that Republic sucks. I just said I was disappointed in what I have experienced so far. There is not many things I have been impressed with but the other crew members that I have met have been wonderful. Regionals may be managed poorly but they do a good job hiring people.

I was trying to help the op that ask "Expressjet or Republic." you can give the op an opinion of your experience here and I was just giving him/her my opinion of my limited time here.

It's too bad the level of discourse has found its way so quickly to the APC median. First of all squawkoff, thank you for your service.

Second, yes, Republic and all its stepchild certificates suck. They suck hard. The length of your employment coupled with the nature of your complaints suggest you have not yet begun to experience or even comprehend the true magnitude of suck in play; that you have seen only the tip of the blue juice iceberg. D1TE's comment was a none-too-tactful way of pointing this out, and your repeated comments about his "tender feelings" haven't been any better.

But since you brought it up, feelings are indeed a bit "tender" at Republic right now. More than a bit, actually. They (you now included) are a rightfully unhappy group of people. The comment that your hopes for the future of your career rest on RAH "working out" caused every current and former employee of the company on this board to shake their heads and sigh. That link is there for a reason - to inform the decision of any and all prospective RAH pilots. It's not a perfect resource - had I written it myself, it would have been more dire, more vitriolic, and contained no fewer than two dozen references to management as "a bunch of God-damned reptiles". But it summarizes many of the employees' core complaints. The fact that you are "disappointed" with RAH so far is sad evidence that you have made a misinformed decision. Anyone considering employment with that company should have their expectations adjusted so painfully low in advance as to make disappointment almost impossible.

It seems everything is the absolute bare bones minimum. I was shocked when I found out the majority of airplanes don't have ACARS. No electronic weight and balance. You have to spin the wheel and do a manual W/B each and every leg. I don't mean to complain here but in this day and age we're pulling out a calculator and writing on a piece of paper for W/B when computers are so available with programs that take most of the error out? Have to call back to give your out and off times. With an operation this big it is disappointing not to have an ACARS capability.
